CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man already jailed on robbery charges has been served with an additional warrant for aggravated robbery.

Police said Kenneth Kenta Woods was booked into the Montgomery County Jail Nov. 4 for aggravated robbery, resisting arrest, and unlawful carrying of a firearm.

The aggravated robbery charge stemmed from the suspect’s involvement in a drug deal in September in which multiple people were robbed, including the drug dealer. While police tried to take him into custody on Nov. 4 he ran from officers and dropped a gun, but was caught after a short foot pursuit.

Officer later discovered that Woods had robbed a business on the 1800 block of Ashland City Rd. about three hours prior to the pursuit. Police said he pretended to purchase a candy bar, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the clerk. He then struck her head with the gun as he reached to open the cash register, took an undisclosed amount of money, and fled.

After reviewing surveillance footage detectives determined Woods was responsible for the robbery at the Ashland City Rd business. He was served with a warrant for aggravated robbery while already in jail.

His new bond has been set at $225,000.
