CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A Clarksville man has been arrested for allegedly chasing two men while wielding a machete.

According to an arrest warrant, the first victim said he was walking through a parking lot on Power Street when the suspect, 44-year-old Julian Martinez, rushed at him with a machete raised over his head. The victim said he ran across the street to get away from him.

The second victim heard the commotion while walking back to his house and said Martinez also rushed at him with the weapon.

When officers responded they found Martinez, who told them he was drinking on his porch when he saw the first victim walking through the parking lot. Martinez claimed the victim owed him money and an argument ensued.

Martinez denied attacking anyone with a machete.

Police found beer cans and an empty machete sheath on the ground but did not locate the weapon.

Martinez was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. His bond was set at $20,000.
