CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A crash with injuries involving three vehicles was reported on the 41A Bypass near Glendale Rd. in front of Jehovah’s Witness church Friday around 1:56 p.m.
The Bypass was shut down between Seven Mile Ferry Rd and Glendale Dr. for nearly two hours.
According to Officer Natalie Hall with the Clarksville Police Department (CPD), Margaret L. Mayfield, 43, was traveling westbound in the bypass in a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe when she crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a 1999 Ford Expedition, driven by Shelly L. Gerlach, 34. Mayfield’s vehicle then hit a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu driven by James C. Sanders, 59.
Sanders attempted to avoid Mayfield’s Tahoe, but was unsuccessful and was hit, causing his Malibu to leave the roadway and flip over in the ditch.
Daniel L. Newell, 22, driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, was trying to avoid the vehicles involved and his Silverado was hit by a tire from Mayfield’s Tahoe that came off during the series of crashes.
Mayfield’s Tahoe came to rest in the ditch against a utility pole.
One driver was transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt and the other two other drivers, along with one passenger, were transported by EMS to Gateway Medical Center. The injuries caused by this crash were reported as non-life threatening.
