FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell will soon welcome a new commander, according to an announcement from the Department of Defense.

Maj. Gen. Brian E. Winski has been promoted to commanding general of the 101st.
The current commander, Maj. Gen. Andrew Poppas, was nominated for Lt. Gen., which has been confirmed by the Senate, according to officials with the 101st.
Maj. Gen. Poppas took command of the 101st in January of 2017.
