Mabel G. Lee, age 80 of Clarksville, TN died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital.

She was born January 19, 1933 in Harts, WV to the late Wade and Hazel Neal Gartin.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. John David Laida and Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Interment will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West in Hopkinsville, KY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lee graduated from Logan High School and married her husband, George on September 26, 1953 in Logan, WV. She was a loving wife and mother and greatly enjoyed her work at the Ft. Campbell hospitals, where she worked in various clinics until her retirement. In earlier years, she traveled the state extensively as a past State Grand Officer of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of Clarksville’s Mary Morrison Chapter 500. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarksville for over forty years, where she enjoyed the companionship and fellowship of the Faith Sunday School Class. She enjoyed doing crafts, working as a volunteer at the Army Hospital, and traveling with her “bestest friend”, Bettye Sleigh.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Retired PSG George I. Lee of Clarksville, TN; a daughter, Pamela Lee Novick and her husband Peter of Hayama, Kanagawa, Japan and South Newfane, VT; a sister-in-law-and-heart, Elaine Lee Thompson of Scott’s Depot, WV; a brother, Donald Gartin and sister, Estelle Vance of Chapmanville, WV; her dearest friend, Bettye Sleigh of Dotsonville, TN and three grandchildren, Colin, Ian, and Anna. Her extensive family of the heart included Mark and Connie McMillin and their sons Matthew and Stephen of Missouri, Don Black of Clarksville, TN, and Aileen Mickle of Clarksville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Iva Price and Irene White.
