The Axe Throwing Place is local veteran owned business that offers something a little different when you want to have a good time.
CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Henry Walker and his wife Sandra met while serving in the Navy. They later married and then retired. Henry served 20 years as a Navy corpsman and physical therapy technician, and Sandra served four years as a Navy corpsman.
On their 27th wedding anniversary, they were looking for something different to do. They decided to go to Nashville, have dinner, and try throwing some axes. They had such a great time, they kicked around the idea of starting a business in Clarksville but left it at that.
About a year later, Walker’s son was working at an axe throwing place in North Carolina. He kept calling it “the axe throwing place,” and the name for the Walkers’ new business was born.

No experience required
Walker said axe throwing doesn’t require prior training – they have trained coaches with you to make sure you are being safe while having a good time.
Along with throwing axes, they offer cornhole and a venue for fundraising events for nonprofit organizations, along with a site for all types of gatherings and parties. There are also axe throwing leagues, and a mobile axe throwing setup is available for use at off-site events.
When working with fundraisers, Walker said they can set it up for people to come in and pay to throw or make a donation. “When we do a fundraiser for an organization, whatever money they make goes to the organization, not to us. I don’t charge to do a fundraiser,” Walker said.
He said owning a business takes a lot of hard work.
“I’m working more now than I ever did when I was active duty, but I have more fun doing what I’m doing because I get to meet so many different people,” Walker said.
