Lonnie Ray Devers, Sr., age 73, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Grace Healthcare of Clarksville. Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Southside, TN, on July 23, 1941, to the late Louise Herrell Devers and Vernon Devers. He was a retired farmer and prize winning watermelon grower.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen, Raymond, Frank and Mac Devers; sisters, Gladys Epps and Bessie Biter.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Sutton Devers. His daughter, Jackie Harmon (Rick) of Charlotte, TN and his son, Lonnie Devers, Jr. (Bobbi) of Clarksville, TN; six grandchildren, Garrett and Ricky Harmon II and Makayla, Caleb, Shae and Carson Devers; and one great-grandchild on the way; brother, Winston Devers (Kathy) of Southside, and sisters, Alene Proctor (Russell), Sue Devers, Southside, Frances (Sis) Nicks (Lone “Junior”), Cumberland Furnace and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Sykes Funeral Home with Rev. James Black officiating. Burial was in Rye’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 and on from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Todd Devers, Raymond Biter, Billy Epps, Trent Dickson, Greg Ussery and Keith Trainer. Honorary Pallbearers were Jason Ussery and Ricky Harmon II.
