CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – On Tuesday, May 14, the Nashville Kats hosted a press conference at F&M Bank Arena to preview their matchup with the Wichita Regulators, which is set to take place Saturday, May 18, at 3:30 p.m.

The press conference was highlighted by an appearance from former Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, who is now the President of Football Operations for the Kats. In addition, Fisher was named as the Interim Arena Football League Commissioner just this Tuesday, according to Bleacher Report. Nashville Kats head coach Dean Cokinos was also in attendance, who just so happened to begin his coaching career with Austin Peay State University.

Fisher told Clarksville Now that he is all too familiar with the Clarksville-area due to connections with Fort Campbell and hosting a training camp in Clarksville back in 2006 when he was with the Titans. As for this weekend’s arena football game, Fisher said it’s something you won’t want to miss.

“We just want to have some fun, get the community involved,” Fisher said. “There’s constantly something going on, and it’s always entertaining. It’s action-packed football. It follows along the lines of a Predators game. You come out, you leave with a smile on your face, and you’ll want to come back.”

As for Cokinos, after playing running back at the University of Massachusetts-Boston, he came to Clarksville to kickstart his coaching career with the Governors football program as a graduate assistant under Roy Gregory. When asked what it means to return to Clarksville, Cokinos said it’s special for him to come back here and re-establish arena football in the area.

With the return of arena football, Fisher and Cokinos want nothing more than to see a packed house at F&M Bank Arena come Saturday. Tickets for the 2024 Nashville Kats season are on sale now.
