“I’m very humbled by it, never imagined I would receive this honor,” Dunn told Clarksville Now. “Very blessed to have a wonderful family always supporting me and lucky to be around great assistant coaches, kids, parents, and admin for the last 40 years at Montgomery Central. I’m also fortunate to have been around other great coaches in the area and throughout the state.”

Impact on student-athletes

In addition to the wins he’s compiled, Dunn has coached 56 student-athletes that went on to play at the collegiate or professional level. Among those is right-handed pitcher Alec Mills.

Mills pitched at the University of Tennessee-Martin, then went on to pitch for the Royals, Cubs and Reds throughout his MLB career. He also owns one of the 16 no-hitters in Cubs franchise history.
