MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The Montgomery County Veterans Colaition held its regular monthly meeting on June 15 at the Montgomery County Veterans Plaza downtown Clarksville.
There were approximately 30 members in attendance that represented various organizations, agencies and businesses that provide services to our local veteran population.
The Coalition is actively working on its by-laws in order to position itself to obtain a 501-3c nonprofit status.
Flyers concerning “fireworks” and how it affects our local Veterans were handed out to the Coalition members to distribute as part of the PR/Education event.
Guest for the month was the Tennessee State Veterans’ Home. Representing the organization was Mr. Ed Harries (Executive Director), Mr. Warren Jasper (Administrator of the Clarksville facility) and Ms. Leanne Lewis (Marketing and Public Relations Manager).
To date, there are 153 State Veterans’ Homes in the United States to include Puerto Rico. The Clarksville facility occupies 103,000 sq. ft. with 9 houses with 108 beds. This facility is located at 250 Arrowood Drive, Clarksville Tn.
Admission Eligibility is as follows: Resident of TN at time of admission; Born in TN; Entered the U.S. Army Forces in TN; Tennessee address is official Home of Record on Veteran’s Military Record; Has an immediate family member who would serve as primary caregiver who is a resident of TN; or Spouse or widow of a Veteran or a Gold Star Parent. Next month Senator Mark Green is scheduled to address the Coalition.
