CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville teen, Samara Shields was recently crowned Miss Tri-Cities in Johnson City, Tenn. The 17-year-old, competes in pageants to build strength and confidence in young girls.

Samara’s mother, Samantha Abraham, is also the current Miss Southeast U.S. 2019.

Samara will continue to promote the “Manners Matter Project” platform as she brings awareness to bullying and suicide prevention. She believes by demonstrating grace and strength she brings out the very best in others to have a successful future.

The Tri-Cities pageant collected donations for local animal shelters during the event. The 52 contestants collectively donated a total of 26,500 lbs of pet food and kitty litter. The donations are being given to the Bridge Home No-Kill Animal Shelter and the Unicoi County Animal Shelter.

“Pageants are more than beauty and a pretty face,” explains Samara. “It’s about serving our communities and supporting each other one hand at a time.”

While in Clarksville, she will assist with gift wrapping at Governors Square Mall, giving away holiday baskets to those in need, and preparing Valentine’s Day gift cards for the children’s hospital.
