Clarksville, TN – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Doing their part to serve hope to those in need, seven area restaurants participated Thursday in United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region’s fourth annual UNITED WE DINE. Partnering eateries donated 10% or more of their dining sales to support United Way’s local nonprofit partner programs. Restaurants participating include Dairy Queen, Edwards, Gingham Café, Guadalajara, Harbor Café, Miss Lucille’s and Wicked Good Sandwiches.
“When you think about where people really come together, it’s often around the dining table,” said Ginna Holleman, local CEO of United Way. “Connecting local partners and individuals who want to make a difference is central to United Way’s mission. United We Dine offers an easy and fun opportunity for folks to better our community and support local businesses that do. We extend our warmest gratitude to each who joined us today for these meaningful meals,” said Holleman.
United We Dine was established in 2014 to showcase local fare while providing a unique opportunity for restaurants and their patrons to give back. Gingham Café has partnered with United We Dine since its inception. “We participate in United We Dine because we believe in the mission of United Way. Our goal at the cafe is to provide fresh homemade meals for our customers. We love that we get to be a big part of the community and enjoy seeing customers from all walks of life. We look forward to this event each year and serving customers who also believe in United Way’s mission,” said Angela Love, Assistant Manager of Gingham Café.
A CharEATy Club member, Dairy Queen has also been a generous supporter of United We Dine at both of its Clarksville locations. “The CharEATy Club was created to recognize restaurants who give $500 or more to United Way. Each year, Dairy Queen and its employees go above and beyond during United We Dine.
Not only contributing a percentage of sales and a corporate donation, employees also volunteer to donate their collected tips during the day. With CharEATy membership displayed by signage on restaurant windows, customers can easily see the community citizenship of the local business it supports,” said Alayna Stevens, United Way Resource Development Director and United We Dine organizer.
United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region fights for the education, health and financial stability of local citizens. Mobilizing the community’s caring power, United Way partners with local programs and partners to address the most critical humanitarian concerns.
The local non-profit is in the midst of its annual fundraising campaign. For more information or to provide support to United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region, contact the office at (931) 647-4291 or visit www.liveunitedclarksville.org.
