Former Northeast and Austin Peay basketball star, Drake Reed, signed a new contract Thursday.  Reed signed a one year deal with a second year player option with France’s Professional Basketball Club, Poitiers.  “I’m looking forward to the opportunity.  P (Poitiers) is a great club, and I’m going to give it my best”, said Reed on a break at his local basketball camp.  Reed, formerly with France’s team Evreux, finished last year averaging 14.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  He shot 51% from the floor and 38% from 3-point range.

Reed has spent the last week mentoring young athletes at his basketball camp here in Clarksville.  Campers learn about basketball, and they learn important life skills.  Before today’s signing, Drake Reed and Tony Easley, former Murray State star and current European Pro, spoke to campers about bullying, peer pressure, and being committed to three things:  faith, family, and future. You can see Drake play this Saturday in the Braggin’ Rights charity basketball game, a city-wide alumni event featuring the top basketball legends from each respective school.  The Braggin’ Rights Classic will be held Saturday, July 2nd, at Northwest High School beginning at 1:00 pm.  See the schedule of events.
