CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Village Preschools launched a Pennies for Puppies campaign in an effort to teach their students about animal awareness and the importance of helping out in the community.

“This was a great opportunity for our kids to see that even a few pennies can go a long way. Their drive and dedication to the Pennies for Puppies operation was not only satisfying, it was encouraging to be surrounded by so many young minds that truly care about the well-being of these animals,” said Jen Gray, director of The Village of Sango.

The schools ran the event through the month of July and at the end of the month they were greeted by two furry diplomats from the Humane Society.

The students were delighted as Midnight and Magee, two dogs from the shelter’s BARK program, demonstrated what it meant to Be Aware Responsible and Kind (BARK). In addition, the dogs displayed their discipline, performed tricks, and taught the children about animal safety.

“We are so proud of our students and parents for their involvement in our fund raiser,” said Brittany McGinnis, director of The Village of St. B. “We cannot thank the Humane Society enough for their participation in our preschools. The valuable lessons and awareness our children received from this learning opportunity will stick with them for a lifetime.”

In a combined effort the preschools raised $597 in pennies as well as numerous donation items for the animals.
