CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Local politician and disabled Army veteran Credo Amouzouvik has been arrested and charged with theft in Clarksville.

According to an arrest warrant, Amouzouvik entered Walmart on Madison St. on June 17 and picked up multiple speakers, three candle holders, and three candlesticks. He allegedly paid for two of the candlestick holders and three candlesticks at self-checkout before grabbing an extra bag to conceal the unpaid merchandise.

The warrant states that Amouzouvik left the premises with the unpaid items. He allegedly returned an hour later to attempt to get a refund for the items he bought and the unpaid merchandise at customer service.

Walmart is seeking restitution for $119 and an unrecovered gift card in the amount of $86.73.

Amouzouvik was charged with theft and booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Amouzouvik ran for Congress in 2012 and 2014. He is also involved in the local NAACP and Homeffa Foundation.
