CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Local professional photographer Alan Goldstein is being featured for his image, “Carrie Descending, Good Night Nashville,” at this year’s Professional Photographers of America International Print Exhibit in Nashville.
The exhibit is part of the ImagingUSA Convention taking place January 19-21 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.
Goldstein has been a professional photographer since 1964 and specializes in black and white photography. “Back in the days of film, nobody touched my Black and Whites… from the time of exposure to the time of mounting [the photograph], those were all mine,” he explained.
The winning photograph depicts Carrie Underwood disappearing into the darkness at a performance in Nashville. His work regularly makes use of light and shadow to create an ethereal effect and lend a sense of otherworldliness to his subjects.
Goldstein has numerous other photographs that have also won recognition throughout his career, including portraits of people, pets, and flowers.
Goldstein has spoken at multiple professional photographer association events. Now retired, he has placed his focus on working with businesses in the community and performing specialty work, continuing to follow his passion however he wants.
