CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – An independently organized TED event is set to come to Clarksville in September, where a number of community leaders will speak on the theme of togetherness during the program. TEDx Clarksville will take place on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Customs House Musuem.
According to their website, in the spirt of TED’s mission, which is “ideas worth spreading,” TEDx programs are meant to help communities, organizations and individuals produce TED-style events.

Dr. Gregg Steinberg with Austin Peay State University is listed as the organizer for the program. The following local leaders are set to speak, according to the TEDx Clarksville event page.
- Brendalyn Carpenter Player – CEO & founder, Brendalyn Player Communications.
- Corey Gipson – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball coach.
- Dr. Bill Burgose – Former head strength coach with the Orlando Magic.
- Dr. Dwayne Estes – Co-founder and executive director, Southeastern Grasslands Institute.
- Dr. Mike Burnette – Lead Pastor of LifePoint Church.
- Dr. Rashidah Leverett – Author, speaker, teacher certified coach and County Commissioner.
- Emily Hawarah – Seasoned designer.
- Josh Ward – Vice President of Industrial Development.
- Laurina Lyle – Writer, biologist and naturalist.
- Nick Nicholson – President and CEO of SIE Global Enterprises LLC.
