CLARKSVILLE, Tenn, (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A local writer will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday, July 13, for a book signing and tour of historic grave sites.

Carolyn Stier Ferrell, a former CMCSS high school teacher, has written several books on the history of Clarksville. Her books include “Occupied: The Story of Clarksville, Tennessee During the Civil War” and “In Search of Nannie Tyler: A 100 Year History of a Family Who Helped Shape Clarksville.”

Carolyn will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday, July 13, signing copies of her fifth book, “Greenwood Cemetery: A History.” It tells the history of notable Clarksvillians interred there as well as containing important documents like the cemetery’s charter and 1973 opening ceremony address.

“It is my hope that readers will come to appreciate the history of Greenwood as well as the artistic skill of the monument carvers,” said Carolyn in a previous interview. “This cemetery evokes a feeling of peace, beauty, and reverence for those buried within its walls.”

The signing will begin at 1:00 p.m. at 976 Greenwood Ave. It will be followed by a tour of the cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Carolyn Ferrell will take guests through the cemetery and show them notable sites from the book. The cost of the tour is $20 and includes a chance to win a copy of the book. For more information, visit Greenwood Cemetery’s Facebook. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.
