CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The students and Kenwood High and Clarksville High teamed up to Red-Out the gym at KHS for Heart Health.
This was the 2nd Annual Charity Game for Kenwood and was put on by the school’s Student Government Association. Since the game was scheduled for February during Heart Health Awareness Month, the students decided to make the American Heart Association’s Hoops for Heart program the benefactor of this year’s game.
When the SGA from Kenwood contacted the Student Government at CHS, they were more than happy to help with the event. Ms. Jamie Wright of Kenwood and Ms. Paula Smith of Clarksville High got their student leaders together Thursday night for the game. They sold t-shirts and gave away key chains and lanyards for donations all to benefit the Hoops for Heart Program. Mr.Kyle Cameron who helps run this program at Kenwood Elementary even came to support the students and collect a $750.00 donation from the Kenwood Student Government at halftime.
The event also had the support of the cheerleaders from both schools, as well as the Kenwood Basketball teams and band, who all chipped in to buy shirts to wear that night. Overall the event was another great success for Kenwood’s SGA. The students really enjoyed working with the students from Clarksville High who were a big help the night of the game.
