CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – First Responders from a dozen local agencies were recognized for their service to the community at Yellow Creek Baptist Church on Sunday.

Pastor Phillip Chambers started First Responder Appreciation Day with a special service dedicated to law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. After the service church members served lunch to first responders and their families.

First responders in attendance were gifted a bible specially tailored to their occupation, along with tokens of appreciation from church members.

“We set out to pray for and encourage these men, women, and their families today. By the overwhelming response, mission accomplished,” said Chambers.

First responders from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Clarksville Police Department, Clarksville Fire Rescue, Cunningham and Palmyra Volunteer Fire Service, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Cumberland City Police Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Houston County Fire Department, and Erin Fire Department were in attendance.

“Thank you to Pastor Chambers and all the members at Yellow Creek Baptist Church for organizing this event,” said Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson. “We are grateful for the support they provide first responders.”
