CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A favorite spring pastime for many is the pick your own opportunities around Tennessee. Groups of families and friends can be seen walking the fields around Clarksville during strawberry season, which traditionally runs April and May.

Many farmers around Montgomery County have opted to stay conscious of social distancing and hygiene recommendations, as opposed to remaining closed. With a short window of opportunity for produce, not allowing customers to purchase and visit would be detrimental.

If you’re looking for strawberries:

McCraw’s Strawberry Ranch on Rossview Road is taking appointments for a pick-your-own experience. Those interested can text or call 931-237-2765.

“Please bring and wear a mask in the field and hand sanitizer. We have a hand washing sink for all to wash their hands when entering the field,” they said on Facebook. “You will be assigned a row to pick to help us manage the field and social distancing. We want to keep our community safe while still enjoying the sunshine and strawberry season.”

Slate Farm Strawberries has been offering drive thru service for strawberry pick up. Visitors are able call ahead and place an order, then pick up during a designated time.

H&S Farms in Cunningham is still offering pick-your-own and pre-picked opportunities for guests. They also provide curbside pick-up for orders as well.

B&R Berries on Guthrie Highway is open for pick your own or pre-picked boxes. They do not require gloves or an appointment. “No mask required we just ask that you social distance from others,” the farm instructed on their Facebook page.

Due to the high demand for berries from all of the farms, it is best to watch their Facebook page or call for regular updates on their daily supply of berries.
