CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Distinguished Steppers Unlimited (DSU) is kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the Fifth Annual Pink Empowerment Program on Saturday, September 28, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kleeman Recreation Center.
Held in partnership with Clarksville Parks and Recreation, the Annual Pink Empowerment Tree Trimming & Reception is an opportunity for community members to gather, share information, and seek support from others who have survived breast cancer. Caregivers, family members, or companions of someone affected by breast cancer are also encouraged to attend.
A tree will be assembled and decorated with pink ornaments in recognition of breast cancer survivors and in memory of those who lost their fight with the disease.
This year’s program will focus on the benefits of therapeutic treatment and on sharing the successes of survivors in the Clarksville community. Select Physical Therapy will be onsite to provide cancer survivors, caregivers and supporters with valuable information on therapy available to augment cancer treatment plans.
The pink tree will be placed in a visible space in Kleeman Recreation Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, where community members are encouraged to stop by to view it and add pink ornaments to the tree. They are also encouraged to assemble and trim pink-inspired trees in the Clarksville community to promote breast cancer awareness.
