CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Living Hope Church will celebrate their 150th anniversary with a special event on Sunday, September 15. The event is open to the public.
Living Hope was founded in 1869. At that time, it was said among Baptists in the Sango area that “there was little hope of there being a church here.” However, the founders of Little Hope Baptist Church were faithful and persevered.
The church began with 33 charter members meeting in a small brick one room schoolhouse and grew steadily through the 1900s. Now the church sees and average Sunday attendance of 700 people.
On Sunday, September 15, Living Hope will celebrate their anniversary during two worship services at 9:00
a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The services will be held at their main campus, 225 Little Hope Road. Guest speaker Randy Davis, Executive Director for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, will bring a special message.
During the day, City Mayor Joe Pitts and County Mayor Jim Durrett will present a special joint proclamation. Guests can enjoy a picnic following the 11:00 a.m. service.
As Living Hope celebrates its past, it will also look toward the future. That same day, September 15, Living Hope will break ground on a second campus and childcare center. Tylertown Church will be at the corner of Tylertown Rd and Winterset Dr with the groundbreaking at 4 p.m.
