CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) recognized six local businesses in Clarksville Tuesday for their participation in the $15,000 Hardest Hit Fund Down Payment Assistance (HHF-DPA) Program in Clarksville-Montgomery County.
June is Tennessee Home Ownership Month and Ralph Perry, THDA Executive Director along with Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan honored the Clarksville Association of Realtors, Cumberland Bank & Trust, Victorian Finance, F&M Bank, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. and The Housing Fund for their work in the program.
Perry said that THDA loan production is up nine percent in the Clarksville area over last year and the Down Payment Assistance Program is close to 15 percent of the total amount of money that has been put to work in the state. The lenders and realtors association are being recognized for their role in boosting the city’s economy, promoting homeownership and improving the lives of local families.
There are 55 zip codes across the state that are targeted for the program and two of those, 37040 and 37042, are in Clarksville-Montgomery County.
“They are among the top producing zip codes in the state for us for this program so far. We’ve been up for maybe three, three-and-a-half months and we’ve put over $1.2 million into those down payments here,” said Perry.
Perry added that he thinks there are a lot of families who are looking to buy their first home in Clarksville. There’s product you can buy with a THDA mortgage and a lot of people are eligible for financing to take advantage of the additional $15,000 for down payment and closing cost assistance.
Mayor McMillan said she thought it was a wonderful opportunity for the residents of Clarksville and thanked THDA for their work in partnering with local businesses and the city to make sure Clarksville citizens have the ability to own their own home.
