What’s in a name?
Everything, for the owners at Kings Bluff Brewery. They keep it creative as they brew their craft beer using unusual ingredients and give them crafty, fun names, many with a wink to pop culture and hometown favorites.
This is the season for all things pumpkin spice, and Dustyn and Kristen Brewer (see, even their name is beer crafty) have put a new spin on this popular palate-pleaser with their “They Call Me Big Pumpkin” batch. The new ale’s name was inspired by hip-hop music.
“I was listening to Biggie (Smalls) while we were brewing one morning. I’m a big Biggie fan,” Dustyn Brewer said, “We came up with this, and it’s delicious. … It’s got four big ass roasted pumpkins, six boxes of Nilla wafers, because what’s pumpkin pie without Nilla wafers, and three-fourths of an organic pumpkin spice and a little touch of organic vanilla.”
They’ve also released batches of “Blackfeather,” along with more of their customer favorites: “Oats, I Did it Again,” “Thick B*tch” and “Hometown Honey Golden.”
Some proceeds from Hometown Honey Golden will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County.
The Brewers use the best quality ingredients and create unusual recipes to elevate the customers’ experience beyond the usual craft beer brewery.
Dustyn Brewer brought some their beers for the Z97.5 crew to taste and explained all things Kings Bluff on “I’d Tap That,” a radio series that explores the local craft beer brewery scene with Z97.5 afternoon host Samantha Knight.
