CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Several Clarksville auto dealers spent the month of December raising awareness and money to help wounded combat veterans and their families receive counseling through Soldiers And Families Embraced (SAFE).

They presented a check to SAFE this week for $1,596. Participating in the campaign were Wyatt Johnson, Gary Mathews, James Corlew and Jenkins And Wynne.

SAFE provides about 300 hours of counseling per month currently to military and their families affected by the past decade and a half of war. This is at no cost to the clients and is supported soley by private donations and grants.

“Three or four new clients come in every day currently,” said SAFE Executive Director Rev. Jodi McCullah. “We are constantly just trying to keep up with the demand. Without community support like this, we would not be able to help like we do. We are grateful.”
