CLARKSVILLE, TN – Local attorney Gregory D. Smith, the City Judge for Pleasant View, was asked by the Parliament of Ukraine to submit a position paper on revamping small claims courts in Ukraine.
The request was made to the National Judicial College from the Government of Ukraine to have three judges in the United States prepare suggestions on how Ukraine can better serve its citizens through revamping the small claims courts. Similar requests were made for general jurisdiction courts and appellate courts. The National Judicial College assigned one of the small claims position papers to Judge Smith. Upon completion of the paper, the text will be translated from English into Ukrainian and presented to the Parliament of Ukraine.
Judge Smith, who practices law in Clarksville, said “I’m humbled to be entrusted with this important task by the National Judicial College and the Country of Ukraine.”
