CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Loaves & Fishes in Clarksville is set to break ground on its new property site on Crossland Ave. near Greenwood Ave. The ground breaking is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 and the public is invited to attend.

The organization is moving forward with its Capital Campaign, New Move-New Vision, to raise $1.5 million to build a new facility. The proposed 13,000 square foot building would take the place of the current location at 215 Foster Street, which is also the Activities and Outreach Center of First Presbyterian Church.

Plans for the new facility include a dining hall which will seat 250 people, community gathering space, large kitchen, food storage warehouse, and offices. The organization hopes to have the new facility open in early 2021.

For over 35 years Loaves & Fishes has served hot meals to those in need in Clarksville-Montgomery County. They presently serve around 200 hot meals a day six days a week, and a new program scheduled to start soon called “Blessing Bags” will help fill the Sunday need for a meal.

Along with serving close to 50,000 meals each year, Loaves & Fishes distributes food to approximately 30 churches and agencies who in turn provide that food for those who are food insecure in the community.
