CLARKSVILLE, TN − Shotguns, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of community will come together on Saturday, Aug. 2, at the seventh annual John Waddle Memorial Clay Target Shooting Tournament, hosted by Loaves & Fishes of Clarksville at Cross Creek Clays in Palmyra.

This event honors the life and legacy of the late John Waddle, a shooting sportsman, coach, and community advocate. A Nashville native and longtime supporter of Loaves & Fishes, John was known not just for his marksmanship, but for his heart. He was planning this very tournament to benefit the hungry in Clarksville when he passed away unexpectedly. Today, the tournament that bears his name stands as a tribute to his legacy.

The tournament welcomes both adult and youth teams. Breakfast and a catered lunch will be provided. Participants can expect prizes for top teams and shooters.

“John Waddle modeled what quiet, consistent service looks like—and when we see that kind of selfless care in action, it changes us,” said John Durnell, Executive Director of Loaves & Fishes. “As Clarksville residents and business leaders, we have a shared responsibility to care for our neighbors. This event honors John’s legacy by inviting all of us to make a real impact.”

Loaves & Fishes is a front-line food ministry serving more than 6,000 hot meals every month to individuals and families facing food insecurity. About 30% of those served are homeless, while the remaining 70% are experiencing hardships due to rising food costs, health crises, job loss, or broken relationships. The food program is supported by an astounding network of more than 400 unique volunteers each month. Proceeds from the tournament will directly support the daily meal program at Loaves & Fishes.

Registration is open now for teams and individuals. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Teams are limited and over half of the teams have already been reserved. To register, become a sponsor, donate or learn more, text WADDLE to 53555 or contact Loaves & Fishes at LoavesAndFishesTN.org.
