CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The holidays are a time for giving and if your business, church or organization is looking for a way to help those who are hungry in our community Loaves and Fishes has the answer. Become a part of the first ever “Jingle Bells Food Drive” for Loaves and Fishes.

It’s easy, just take one meeting and/or one day in December to collect canned goods and other needed items, get together with your fellow church members, employees or community group and help stock the Loaves and Fishes shelves. Financial donations can also be made to Loaves and Fishes for the “Jingle Bells Food Drive.”

As a participant you will be added to the Loaves and Fishes website as a member of the “Jingle Bells Food Drive” and you’ll also receive a certificate from Loaves and Fishes. Loaves and Fishes will pick up your donations, or you can drop them off at 215 Foster Street in Clarksville from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Donations of food needed include a variety of large sizes of canned, bottled or boxed goods like vegetables, soups, fruit, peanut butter, macaroni, rice, salad dressing and coffee. Other items such as paper towels, napkins, paper cups, toilet paper, laundry detergent and liquid hand soap are also needed.

Currently, the various Montgomery County Government offices and departments are collecting non-perishable food items for Loaves and Fishes. That food drive involves Montgomery County employees and is scheduled to go through Friday, November 22.

Loaves and Fishes has been an open door to the hungry in Clarksville-Montgomery County since 1983 and serves meals to over 200 people every day, six days a week. Close to 250 volunteers and around 30 churches are actively involved with the loaves and Fishes soup kitchen.
