CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Anyone with internet access can now watch the action at Clarksville City Council meetings as it unfolds.
“Live streaming is a service we’ve been working on since I became Mayor,” said Mayor Kim McMillan. “Live streaming will give anyone with internet service, a smart phone or a tablet access to City Council meetings. We have been researching the technology, costs, and options for quite a while and are now able to bring this important service to Clarksville.”
“While we will continue to air the meetings within 24 hours on the City’s cable channel (CDE Lightband Channel 3), residents can now watch the action without delay through our website,” Mayor McMillan said.
For easiest access to the live stream, simply click on the button on the middle of the City’s webpage, www.cityofclarksville.com/live. The service can also be accessed by logging into the City’s website, highlighting the City Hall menu, highlight City Council and then click on City Council Meetings Live Streaming. The service can be accessed either through the website or on mobile devices, such as a tablet or smart phone.
Additionally, the City will continue to post a taped version of all City Council meetings on the website. This service has also been improved to add an agenda with bookmarks so that a viewer can immediately access a specific part of the meeting. Until now, viewers had to watch the entire meeting to access a specific part of the discussion.
“We continue to review our services and emerging technology to offer the best possible resources for our citizens. One of my priorities has always been to make our City’s government as open and transparent as possible. This live streaming service and the bookmarked videos are improvements that will allow Clarksvillians to access information about their local government,” said Mayor McMillan.
