Live music, rides, and more at Hopkinsville’s Summer Salute Festival

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The 3rd Annual Summer Salute Festival will be held Aug. 24-25, 2018 in Hopkinsville

The largest annual festival in Hopkinsville, Summer Salute is a free two-day music festival that will include approximately 100 food/drink booths and merchant vendors, kids’ rides and activities for everyone.

The event will feature nationally-renowned country music group Sawyer Brown — during a concert on “the big stage,” the night of Saturday, Aug. 25 in front of the Hopkinsville Justice Center.

Previous winner of the ACM Vocal Group of the Year, Sawyer Brown has recorded 14 top-ten songs over its storied history and is currently celebrating its 30 anniversary as a group with the release of its 23rd album, titled “Travelin’ Band.”

Back again this year is The Jimmy Church Band, who will perform at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in conjunction with the Fridays@5 summer concert series.

Both shows are free of charge. Music is one of the festival cornerstones and various artists will provide tunes on the Founders Square stage from noon until 5 p.m. both days.

“We believe we are certainly continuing with the tradition of bringing high-quality, big-time names to downtown for Summer Salute,” said Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent Tab Brockman. “Those shows are the pillars of our event, but we are also excited to offer so many other free activities throughout the weekend.”

In addition to music, kids will have a wide arrange of free activities at Kid’s Zone locations at Summer Salute, including rides and inflatable bounce houses.

“Due to the tremendous response at last year’s Summer Salute, we are nearing capacity for our vendor spaces,” Brockman shared. “That alone shows proof that this event is well-received and growing every year.”
