CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Families from Lincoln Homes enjoyed a day of fun and education Saturday, July 27 at a Back to School Bash hosted by the City of Clarksville Office of Housing and Community Development.
Dozens of youngsters and their parents enjoyed hot dogs, chips and drinks provided by the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club. Members of the club also volunteered to help serve food and pass out school supplies. President of the Clarksville Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, Jonas Cloud, also known as Ice, talked about why the club was lending a helping hand.
“We’re here today because we pride ourselves in making sure we give back to the community. Anytime there’s a community project or program that’s involved with the city or a specific community we will make ourselves available to help out and give back anyway we can,” Cloud said
There were games provided by the Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department and educational activities for the kids to take part in. Each child who attended also received a book bag full of school supplies. State Representative attended the event and was a big hit on a hot summer day when he showed up with ice cream donated by Sweet Berry Yogurt.
One resident of Lincoln Homes, Rhonda Turner, talked about what the event meant to her and her children. “I think it’s very nice and this is helping those of us who are low income and helping us get our kids back to school. This is a wonderful thing,” said Turner.
