CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) β€” A NASA spacecraft is on its way to the sun. The Parker Solar Probe rocketed away from Cape Canaveral, Florida, early Sunday.

It’s on an unprecedented quest that will take it straight through the wispy edges of the sun’s corona, or outer atmosphere. It will fly closer to our star than anything ever sent before.

Thousands of spectators jammed the launch site for the second day in a row, including the 91-year-old astrophysicist for whom the spacecraft is named, Eugene Parker.
