CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is currently providing five separate age appropriate programs as part of Summer Reading.
“Tadpoles and Tagalongs” programs are for children under age five and their parents or care giver. They start at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Tuesdays programs will repeat on Fridays. Due to space limitations of the room, a limited number of tickets will be given out on a first come, first served basis beginning an hour before each program starts.
“Every Hero Has a Story” programs are for children ages five and up. They will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Fridays. Children should be mature enough to attend without parental supervision. Misbehaving children who disrupt the programs will be asked to leave. Parents should wait in the library for their children until the program is finished.
On Mondays at 2 p.m., there will be a Tween “UNMASK!” program for tweens that are going into 4th -6th grade.
On Thursdays at 3 p.m., there will be a Teen “UNMASK!” program for teens that are going into 7th – 12th grade.
“UNMASK!” Teens and Tweens will complete a Summer Reading Log to be eligible for a drawing for prizes.
The “Every Hero Has a Story” program suitable for the whole family will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Each child will receive a “Hero Log” to track total hours they read, or the amount of time that someone reads to them. Participants are responsible for keeping track of the time they read. “Hero Logs” should be filled out completely, with only one log accepted per week. When the logs are turned in, children will receive incentives. “Hero Logs” can be turned up until one hour before and during programs. At the end of the five weeks of these programs, participants who have turned in four “Hero Logs” will receive a free book of their choice. Prize books will not be replaced or exchanged.
To participate in the adult summer reading program, adults must read one book each week and write a review. They will be entered to win the prize for each week that they turn in a review. If they turn in a review for all five weeks of the summer reading program, they are eligible to be entered to win the grand prize, a Kindle HD. On June 27, adults can come to the Guitar Hero Tournament and compete for a chance to win the title of Guitar Hero Champion.
Registration for summer reading programs is available through the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library website.
