CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Rising flood waters on the Cumberland River have forced city officials to close Liberty Park and the Clarksville Marina.

According to a Parks and Recreation employee who spoke to a ClarksvilleNow.com reporter at the park, the water had risen to dangerous levels and became a safety concern.

As of 3:45 p.m. Monday, police officers began notifying patrons at the park.

City officials said the park will remain closed Tuesday because water over roads is blocking access to much of the park, including Freedom Point, Clarksville Marina and the park’s boat ramps.

However, Liberty Park Grill is accessible and will open as usual.

Boat ramps in McGregor Park and at Trice Landing are under water and closed Tuesday.

Certain portions of McGregor Park have also been roped off due to flooding, but the playground and accessible sidewalks remained open as of Monday afternoon.

Parks and Recreation said the following areas are closed:
• Liberty Park and Freedom Point, with the exception of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center and Liberty Park Grill.
• McGregor Park boat ramp.
• Trice Landing boat ramp.
• Clarksville Marina.
