Contributed commentary by Josiah Baker, chair, Libertarian Party of Montgomery County:
Libertarians have a duty to stand for liberty and those who support it, even when we may not agree on every single issue. The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States, but the state of Tennessee still does not recognize it as a valid party. This means Libertarian candidates are required to run as “independent.”
The Libertarian Party of Montgomery County considers endorsements for Libertarian or independent candidates, particularly local ones, regardless of party affiliation, if their views generally align with those of the party.
The LPMC has endorsed three candidates for elections to be held on Thursday, Aug 4:
Montgomery County Commission
- Joshua Beal – District 14
 - Joey Dasinger – District 12

Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board
- Ambar Marquis – District 3
