I just finished the article about the Tee-Ball tournament being canceled because of parental behavior. That behavior was why, when my kids aged out, I stopped coaching. The behavior like what was reported in the article is why our society is in the shape it is today. Parents who should be setting the example are setting a bad example by showing kids that every conflict/situation should be handled with either violence or confrontation.

Even if you don’t agree with the rules, those were what the teams were bound by when they wanted to play in the tournament. Unfortunately, the kids, in a lot of cases, will only hear how bad the umpire was and the tournament personnel were when they get home. The poor behavior of the adults will be glossed over or not even mentioned. Adults are supposed to set the example, and when we demonstrate bad behavior, kids feel it is OK to behave in a similar manner.

Most Little Leagues are made up of volunteers who are trying to provide a positive experience for the teams. Now, because of a few unruly adults, a tournament intended to provide a fun experience for the kids was ruined. Our kids of all ages need positive role models, to include parents. Hopefully, all the discontent and ill will can be left at home next year.
