Lester Washington Bailey, age 96 of Erin, TN, passed away Monday, January 7, 2020, at Signature Healthcare of Erin.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020, at the chapel of Nave Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
The Bailey family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service Friday afternoon.
Lester entered this life on May 28, 1923, in Erin, TN, son to the late Joseph and Lela Bailey. Lester proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later served as Houston County Sherriff in 1968. Lester retired from the Houston County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Bailey; son, Gordon Bailey, and a host of siblings.
Lester leaves behind his loving daughter, Lisha Ann Mathis, and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Derrek Weatherspoon, Michael Chambers, Derik Bailey, Phillip Bailey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nave Funeral Home to help with funeral costs.
