CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The LEAP Organization has announced its 4th Annual 7 Points Quest Scholarship Essay contest, which will grant one high school senior $1,000 toward college tuition.

The contest is designed to encourage and promote the 7 principles of Leadership, Enlightenment, Academic Achievement, Perseverance, Outreach, Responsibility, and Growth.

The winner will be awarded the scholarship at the LEAP Organization’s Annual Celebration of Youth Development Gala in January of 2015.

All essays must address the 7 Points Theme, “Perseverance.” The body of the essay should address the following: In your own words, define perseverance. Describe the biggest obstacle you’ve overcome in your life and what steps you took to overcome the challenge. Where in the process of overcoming this obstacle did you reach a turning point? Why did you keep going when it got tough? What tools or coping methods did you use to keep from quitting? What lessons did you learn and how can you use them to overcome future obstacles that may challenge your ability to achieve your goals?

The deadline to submit essays is January 6, 2015. Entries must be 350 – 750 words, typed and double spaced. Applicants must be high school seniors.
