CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Leadership Middle Tennessee Class of 2022 has partnered with Soles4Souls to collect new shoes as part of the 4EveryKid program. The program works with school districts and child advocate partners to provide new, name-brand athletic shoes to homeless children.

Gail Young, co-president of the Leadership Middle Tennessee class, is one of five members of the class representing Montgomery County. Other local members are Walt Lord, Yolonda Williams, Kris Phillips and Brett Jackson.

The Montgomery County class members have been working with Keith Griffin, manager of the Sango Walmart, to collect shoes, and Walmart has donated 400 pairs.

Young said there are 934 students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System listed as homeless, and the shoes will go to them.

“We had an opportunity to donate quite a few dollars of shoes for this cause and we just wanted to make sure it would help the kids that are homeless in Montgomery County,” Griffin said.

The shoe drive continues through Feb. 28. Anyone who would like to participate can either donate a new pair of shoes at one of the 4EveryKid collection points or donate online at justgiving.com/fundraising/leadershipmt.
