CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Clarksville Police Department is urging motorists to be safe and responsible when it comes to celebrating on New Year’s Eve.
Sgt. Fontella Jones, Public Information Officer with the police department had this advice for drivers. “If you feel that you’ve had too much to drink or too much partying, then utilize some of the transportation service that are out there available for hire,” said Jones.
She mentioned Uber and Lyft or suggested making sure you have a friend as a designated driver to make sure you get home safely.
Jones added that the police patrol division will have extra patrols in the high traffic areas of the city and the traffic division will also be conducting saturation patrols throughout the city.
Sandra Brandon, Public Information Officer with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said extra deputies will also be out New Year’s Eve on the lookout for impaired drivers.
“We want people to have a good time and have fun New Year’s Eve, but we also want them to be safe and responsible and we want everyone to get home and start 2020 as a great year,” Brandon said.
