CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Christian School announced on Wednesday, Sept. 18, that sophomore student-athlete Lauren Hassell has been selected to join the Jr. WNBA Court of Leaders, which is a developmental program for high school athletes across the nation.
Alongside the NBA, the WNBA launched the Court of Leaders initiative to focus not only on basketball performance but also on fostering leadership, communication skills and personal growth for student-athletes.
The organization stated that Hassell was selected for both her performance on the court, as well as her character, and her desire to use her platform to inspire and impact others.

According to a news release sent to Clarksville Now, Hassell traveled to New York in August where she participated in a variety of leadership and career-building activities, alongside 28 other standout student athletes.
“I think it was the best time in NYC,” Hassell said. “I got to meet a lot of people and other athletes my age. It was an experience I will never forget and one I will not take for granted, as not a lot of people will get to have this experience.”
Hassell’s involvement in this program will continue throughout the next few months, with virtual programming, mentorship opportunities and additional events to help her grow as both an athlete and a person.
“Lauren’s commitment to her skill development has brought her to the point where she has earned this opportunity to represent herself, her family, and our school at this type of event,” said Clarksville Christian Athletic Director Jason Shelton. “As cliché as it may sound, Lauren is just as special of a young lady every day on our campus as she is on the court.”
