CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. – Two contractors for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plan shoulder and lane restrictions along a section of Interstate 24 in Christian County starting today.
Motorists should be alert for shoulder and lane restrictions along I-24 from the US 41-Alternate Exit 86 Interchange for Ft. Campbell and Hopkinsville extending eastward to the 93 mile marker a the Kentucky-Tennessee State Line, a distance of about 7 miles.
Shoulder closures will be required along this section of I-24 to facilitate the start of installation work on median cable barriers. As far as possible, lane restrictions for this project will be up at night to help minimize traffic disruptions.
Lane restrictions will be required along this section of I-24 to facilitate some corrective work along the rehabilitation project completed last summer.
Activities along this work zone will be closely coordinated to limit disruptions to traffic.
The corrective work is expected to take about a week to complete. The median cable barrier installation work is expected to take about 45 working days to complete.
There will be a 55 mile per hour work zone speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence. Caution is required.
