CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Kyong S. Dawson of has announced her campaign for the Republican nomination to the Montgomery County Commission, District 18.
Dawson, who was born in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, and has lived in Montgomery County since 2005, said that being a Christian, military spouse and mother, she has seen and participated in many diverse communities. She said all have voices and ideas that should be represented.
“I feel that I will be learning just as much as the community I will be representing,” she said, adding that this position is about being there for the community, being in the community and working for the community. “Let’s be honest, we have enough people taking positions that don’t really get out there for the people.”
“As a county commissioner, we vote on property zoning, resolutions, and give a thumbs up or down on the school budget. I do not feel that I am a leader in the sense of directing the community, but as a representative that must work with the community in which I live,” Dawson said.
She has been married to John Dawson for 31 years. After his retirement from the military in 2007, they chose to remain in Clarksville, making it home for good.
District 18 is in north Clarksville, south of Tiny Town Road down to Boy Scout Road and Hazelwood Road, and from the Senseney neighborhoods to Trenton Road.
