NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Kentucky State Police is investigating a claim that a man who resembles Timothy Madden, the prime suspect in the Gabbi Doolin murder case, may have tried to lure two young boys into an RV in West Virginia just one month before the 7-year-old was killed.

WKRN News 2 reports that the Mason City Police Department in Mason, West Virginia, has turned over surveillance video and images captured at a Walmart gas station parking lot on Oct. 9 to Kentucky State Police to review.

In an interview with News 2, Dave Barr, the father of one of the boys, said his son, 11, recognized Madden’s picture on Nov. 25 while they were watching a news story about Doolin’s murder.

Barr told News 2 that his son and his 13-year-old friend went to a Walmart near the high school where Barr coaches football to pick up snacks. The boys said an older man allegedly tried to lure them into an older model RV.

The kids ran back to the high school and told their families, who called local authorities.

After seeing the news story about Doolin’s murder one month later, Barr alerted Kentucky State Police.

Madden’s family said there is no way he could have been 350 miles away in West Virginia last October because he was by his wife Jodi’s side at a rehabilitation facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

She shared a picture with News 2 that she says her husband took of her on Oct. 9, the same day a man tried to lure the two little boys into an RV.

Kentucky State Police filed affidavits for search warrants in February to obtain access to Madden’s cell phone records to look at calls, text messages and cell tower coordinates from Oct. 8 through 11.

Another search warrant will allow two computer towers and 18 CDs retrieved from Madden’s home on Nov. 20 to be sent to the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crimes Branch for Examination.

In December, Madden, 39, was indicted by a special grand jury on charges of kidnapping, sodomy, rape and murder in the death of 7-year-old Gabbi Doolin.

He is scheduled for a status pre-trial conference on July 13.
