CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) Clarksville City Councilman Joel Wallace was the guest speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville, Tuesday August 23. Wallace, who is a Kiwanian, talked about his two terms in office as a councilman. Wallace, who serves Ward 8, has decided not to run for a third term.
Wallace presented a slide show of some of the highlights of his time in office and the community projects that took place while he was on the council. He talked about industrial and business growth and also the importance of projects along the Cumberland River to the City of Clarksville.
Ron Smithfield announced that the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville received four awards at the recent 98th KY-TN District Convention in Chattanooga. Two of those were the Outstanding Club Service Award and Administrative Excellence Award.
The club was also recognized with the New Key Club Sponsorship Award for Montgomery Central High School Key Club and the Key Club Sponsorship Award for Clarksville Academy, Clarksville High School and Montgomery Central High School.
At the meeting, Smithfield was installed as the Lt. Governor of the 14th Division that includes 10 clubs in Northern Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. U.S.Marine veteran and Kiwanis club member Lynn Hunter donated $300 on behalf of the Marine Corp League Detachment 603 toward the “Faces of Valor” book.
The Kiwanis Club also welcomed two new members at the meeting, Norman Quiron, with Clarksville Transit System and Joe Woodard with Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation.
