CLARKSVILLE TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville hosted its annual Kiwanis Children’s Christmas Party on Tuesday at Head Start Lafayette at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency.

Club members donated gifts to 145 Head Start children at the celebration, which was also visited by Santa Claus. The Kiwanians have been holding the party for more than 30 years and even donated toys for the children during the COVID-19 pandemic when the youngsters couldn’t attend the party.

Kiwanis Club President Scott Donnellan talked about the holiday party. “We buy a bag of gifts for each child and come here to distribute those to them. It’s so exciting for the club to do this, it really puts us in the Christmas spirit, and I know the kids love it. We just think it’s a great event,” Donnellan said.

Jenae Bailey is the family advocate manager at Head Start and said the kids were beside themselves and were absolutely ecstatic when they saw Santa. “I had one little boy come up to me and say it was the best day ever.

Head Start helps children succeed and is a nationally recognized child development program designed to meet the educational, mental, nutritional and social needs of young children and their families.
