CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville held its annual Children’s Christmas Party Tuesday and Laida Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church was filled with around 144, 3 to 5-year-old children, and of course as you might guess, a lot of excitement and holiday fun.

Along with Christmas music there were toys for every child and even a visit from Santa Claus. The kids had the chance to sit on Santa’s lap and Ole St. Nick reminded all the youngsters to be sure and write him a letter and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

The children were from the Lafayette Head Start Program and Kiwanis Club members were on hand to help with handing out presents and even playing with the kids and some of their new toys. Co-Chairman of the Kiwanis Children’s Christmas Party, George Benjamin talked about why the organization enjoys helping out the youngsters so much.

“Every year we definitely want to bring the most joy that we can to each child that may need it in their lives. This is a huge event for us, it’s one of our biggest events we do each year. For each one of us to bring something special to that child that’s what it’s all about, making sure they have a happy Christmas where they may not be able to without us,” said Benjamin.
