“I’m proud of the way they played, I mean we only got to practice outside one day this week,” Watson told Clarksville Now. “I’m surprised we threw the ball as well as we did because we didn’t get to work it.”
Montgomery Central struggled to move the ball early in the game, plagued by several penalties that held them back. However, the Indians defense found their footing in the second half, as they were able to hold Kirkwood to 7 points after halftime. MCHS also added a touchdown of their own before the game concluded. Central head coach Wyatt Page said he was proud of his team’s fight throughout their matchup.
“We fought till the game was over, that’s our standard,” Page said. “There’s a lot of things we have to work on, but I have confidence in these guys. We came up short, so we have to learn from this, and come out ready to work next week.”
With the 35-7 win, the Cobras remain undefeated with a 2-0 record. Meanwhile, Montgomery Central falls to 0-2 on the early season.
